As a research and development partner for industry, the Fraunhofer Institute for Microelectronic Circuits and Systems IMS pursues the goal of developing customized microelectronic circuits, microsystems and sensors for specific requirements in the fields of technology services, biomedical sensors, optical systems and quantum technology. Depending on the process, we offer all the steps directly on site or cooperate closely with Foundrys and other Fraunhofer institutes. The in-house wafer processing is carried out in our clean room on a total area of 800 square meters. The Center for Sensor Technology (CST) provides the clean room infrastructure at Fraunhofer-IMS, which enables our employees to develop and carry out various semiconductor manufacturing processes. In order to meet our current requirements for energy and cost efficiency, we need to continuously question ourselves, our clean room infrastructure and our production processes, and to optimise them in a targeted perspective. Their staff function is to help evaluate established processes unbiased, identify rigid structures and break them open in a controlled manner. The aim is to strategically set up CST for future challenges.

You analyze, design and optimize development and production processes in a modern, research-oriented semiconductor production focusing on quality, reproducibility and efficiency. Identify using LEAN methods such as value flow analysis or pitting You regularly improve potentials within the department, but also across departments, in order to reduce processes and avoid waste of resources. In doing so, you can incorporate various parameters such as throughput times, energy consumption or reject rates into your considerations. In your staff function, you will develop and implement internal and external benchmarks together with the department management as well as relevant stakeholders (group management, controlling and human resources) as well as a suitable KPI system to sustainably improve productivity, resource efficiency and process stability. To do this, use appropriate analysis tools, prepare technical and economic process parameters for the department management and present your implementation proposals and action recommendations for process design and plant optimization both to the managers and employees of the respective departments. As a central contact person, You actively support the departments in implementing LEAN measures and thus promote the continuous improvement of the processes in the department. You regularly ensure the sustainability of your LEAN actions and document best practices from the disciplines to share them with the executives and employees within the department. You will also support the development of a sustainable LEAN culture.

Complete university degree in economic engineering, mechanical engineering with a focus on process engineering, industrial engineering or a comparable discipline You have at least three years of professional experience in Lean Management and have successfully implemented Lean methods and production systems such as KVP, 5S, Kanban, Kaizen, TPM as well as value flow and process analyses. Funded know-how in the design and subsequent implementation of Lean methods, including the implementation of workshops for executives and employees You have a structured way of working as well as strong analytical, conceptual and organisational skills. You communicate according to target groups and convincingly in very good German in word and writing, also in English.
