System Administrator - Network / Firewall / IT Security (m/f/d)

You are responsible for the planning, configuration and stable operation of our network infrastructure (LAN, WLAN, WAN, VPN) and monitor the systems to ensure high availability for our research. You manage our central firewall systems and develop our IT security solutions as well as monitoring, ideally with Icinga, conceptually. You drive the automation of our system landscape by opting for recurring tasks with tools such as Ansible, Salt and scripts in Python and Bash. In close coordination with the scientific departments, you actively support research data management projects and implement special network solutions for machine learning workflows.

You have completed a study of computer science or a comparable qualification and have already gained professional experience in network administration. You are a professional in the planning and management of Layer-2/3 network architectures and you know well with switches, routers and firewalls. You can move safely into Windows and Linux environments and have experience in automation with tools like Ansible, Salt or Scripts (e.g. Python, Bash). Ideally, you have already worked with virtualization, containers and monitoring tools like Icinga. You work independently, solution-oriented and bring a strong awareness of IT security and service orientation. For the exchange in the team you speak fluent German (C1) and good English.
