Head of Site Management on Heligoland (f/d/m)

The Alfred Wegener Institute Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research is a research facility supported by the Federal Republic of Germany, the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen and the Länder of Brandenburg, Schleswig-Holstein and Lower Saxony with around 1,400 employees. In a broad multidisciplinary approach, we conduct polar and marine research and, in conjunction with numerous university and non-university research institutions, make an important contribution to global environmental, earth system and paleoclimate research. Head of location management on Helgoland (f/d/m) Background The location management at the AWI site Helgoland is responsible for the management and infrastructure on site. It acts as a central contact point for all departments of the institute and for external partners:inside, in particular the municipality of Helgoland. The management of the organisational unit is assigned to the management director, carries personal responsibility for 23 employees and manages a budget of just under 1.5 million. €. The institution(s):in it promotes good cooperation between all employees at the site and represents the institution to the outside. A strong link to the AWI and the Helgoland site is important for this role. The line works closely with other lines at the site, such as the diving center or guest research. The areas of responsibility are clearly separated, yet common goals are coordinated to make optimal use of resources and to develop the location in a sustainable manner.

Graduate degree (master or equivalent) in Business Administration, Administration or Natural Sciences or Comparative Qualification 3-5 years of successful leadership experience German knowledge at first language level (according to CEFR level C2) Very good knowledge of English (according to CEFR level C1) High level of organisational skills, solution orientation and enforcement Embossed service and customer understanding Very good communication and team skills Required skills, knowledge and experience Very good knowledge of organization, project and process management, especially in public administration Very good knowledge of budget planning and ERP systems Very good knowledge of science management, facility management and HSE management Affinity for Natural Sciences Binding and safe occurrence in an international environment
