Volunteer in data journalism (m/f/d)

Their 24-month training takes place in the editors of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagzeitung as well as in our online editorial. You learn the craftsmanship for responsible journalism and focus on data-based stories. You research relevant datasets/data sources, prepare data journalistically and create static and interactive data visualizations – from idea to publication. You work on multifaceted topics, explain complex facts intelligible and comprehensible and work closely together with the entire editorial board of the F.A.Z. Your journalistic know-how deepen in accompanying courses and learn multimedia storytelling from scratch. After two years of training, you have the tool to work as an editor (m/w/d) or data journalist (m/w/d) with a quality medium.

Your heart beats for quality journalism and you are looking for entry into editorial work to introduce and develop your skills in this important area. Ideally, you have successfully completed your studies with the focus on data journalism and bring first journalistic knowledge. You have basic knowledge of data analysis tools and were able to gain first experience in programming, for example with Python, R, JavaScript, CSS or HTML. You are also keen to know, have excellent general education and have a strong interest in AI to facilitate work processes. Even before complex datasets and facts, do not scare back and bring them into a vivid form with your good view for design and design. Your application documents should contain letters, CV, certificates, in particular about your school and degree, and ideally a maximum of five journalistic work samples. Your application will be accepted exclusively through our online application system and until 30 June 2026. After the application deadline has expired, we will check all the applications received.
