Senior Specialist (m/w/d) Scientific IT Code: 1558/2026/7 in full time, limited to two years, with option on determination Location: Bonn The German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) is a globally leading international research centre dedicated to the discovery of new approaches to the prevention and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.

You support the Lead team in implementing the AI strategy and take over the operational response for the associated functional areas (MLOps, Data Engineering, Security, UX / Pedagogy). Depending on the focus, your tasks include: Conception, implementation and operation of MLOps frameworks (e.g. Kubeflow, MLflow) Structure and optimization of data pipelines for large biomedical data sets Ensuring data protection and security standards in all AI processes creating user and training documents; Training on AI and HPC topics Close cooperation with researchers to integrate AI solutions in their workflows Your role in excellence research You take priority areas, depending on the experience and interest: MLOps / Platform Engineering – Construction and operation of CI/CD pipelines, model deployment, scaling on GPU clusters Data Engineering / RAG specialist – Development of data-ingestion- and retrieval-augmented-generation workflows, data-governance Security / Privacy Engineering – Implementation of Privacy and Security Measures, Audits, Compliance Management Product / UX / Pedagogy – Design of user-friendly AI tools, Explain‐AI concepts, internal trainings and workshops

Completed academic studies in computer science, data science, IT security or related fields Multiannual experience in at least one of the mentioned priority areas, preferably in the research or HPC environment Practical knowledge in container orchestration (Cubernetes), CI/CD and modern AI frameworks Very good knowledge of German and English as well as strong communication skills Team-oriented working and willingness to work on new topics
