The Asklepios Klinik Hamburg Altona is a house of maximum care. In 17 specialist departments, 32,000 patients are provided outpatiently and inpatiently. The house supplies a regional catchment area from Hamburg, Niedersachsen and Schleswig-Holstein. The operational priorities include a head and neuro center, a gastro center and a heart-to-face centre. From January 2026, a successor to the position of the senior physician will be sought for the Department of HNO-Heilkunde, head and neck surgery. The department treats with 2100 stationary cases per year all diseases in the head and neck areas with the special focus of oncological head and neck surgery, plastic-reconstructional surgery and surgery of the front and lateral skull base. In the latter, there is a long expertise in surgical middle ear surgery in adults and children with the possibility of supplying cochlea implants. In the field of oncological surgery, in addition to the plastic reconstructive techniques for functional rehabilitation (free and regional lapping plastic), the most modern apparatus methods such as computer-assisted navigation and robot-assisted technology (DaVinci) have been used for many years. There is a cooperation with the Altona children's hospital in which, in addition to classical paediatric surgery via the air port, children with stenosis of the upper respiratory tract are also surgically supervised.
