The Albtal Transport Company (AVG) transports around 46 million passengers per year with its city railways. The company has a city rail network of more than 540 kilometres and operates 288 kilometres of its own route, making it one of the largest railway companies in Baden-Württemberg. A central element is the “Karlsruher Model”, an innovative TramTrain system that connects inner-city trams and regional railway lines and thus enables flexible mobility throughout the region. Founded in 1957, AVG is a municipal transport company and employs around 1,000 employees. In addition to the operation and maintenance of railways and routes, AVG also takes over tasks in the area of planning, infrastructure and customer service.
