PhD student for the HZG 6 ''Research Centre ATMP/Haematology'' (m/f/d)

We are looking for our HZG 6 Research Center ATMP/Hämatology at the next possible time Senior Consultant (m/w/d) We, the Paul-Ehrlich-Institut, are a scientific institution of the federal government which is responsible for the testing and approval of vaccines and biomedical medicines and operates research in the field of life sciences. Networking with national and international actors makes us a competent contact for the public, science, medicine, politics and business. For the subject area HZG 6 “Research Centre ATMP/Hämatology” a PhD student (m/w/d) is sought with motivation and commitment to carry out a research project in the field of leukemia therapy within the special research area (SFB) funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG).

The project includes, in particular, the development and investigation of a novel allogenic stem cell transplant xenograft model that enables the functional investigation of the immune interactions between donor and recipient, as well as their effects on the plasticity of immune and leukemia cells. This includes the reinforcement of the Graft-versus-Leukemia effect (GvL) by a novel approach that uses a T-cell-Engager. Integral component is also research into whether mesenchymal current cells (MSC) can be used as cell therapy for the simultaneously occurring Graft-versus-Host reaction (GvHD). The plasticity of the cells is to be investigated by flow cytometry and single cell RNA profiling.

Implementation of translational research projects in the field of haematooncology Animal experimental work to investigate the GvHD and potential therapeutic strategies Cell and molecular biological work and (bioinformatic) data analysis Scientific project management, data curation and presentation as well as publication of the collected results

Completed studies (state exams or masters) of a scientific or scientific discipline (e.g. biochemistry, pharmacy, human or veterinary medicine) knowledge of molecular or cellular oncology, hematology, or immunology Ready to carry out animal tests Knowledge of animal experimental work (implementation and evaluation of animal experiments), in particular with immunological animal models, are advantageous A wide range of methods and desirable experience in cell culture and flow cytometry Project management skills are advantageous Analytical thinking and stress tolerance Willingness to work in an interdisciplinary and interprofessional working environment Very good English language skills in word and writing
