Head of Urban Development (Urban Planning) (m/f/d)

The Department of Urban Development combines the classical tasks of urban planning with the key topics of climate protection, environment, mobility and urban renewal. The department currently comprises 17 employees and is divided into the sections “City Planning” and “Climate, Mobility and Urban Renewal”. In this responsible position, you take over the technical, organizational and personnel management of the department. Your focal points include: management and management responsibility for the entire field of expertise, Deputy Head of Division, strategic and conceptual development of the department in the context of current urban development issues, sustainable urban planning, in particular in the fields of climate protection, housing, urban development and mobility, responsibility for construction planning and urban planning, with particular attention to high urban quality and legal certainty, technical preparation, representation and coordination of subjects of the department in political bodies, civil appointments and in the advisory board; cross-disciplinary cooperation with all urban actors within the meaning of the overall interests of the city; sovereign negotiation with internal and external partners.

We are looking for a professionally convincing, powerful and communication-proof personality that understands urban development as an integrated task for the future and has the pleasure of using design spaces responsibly. You bring with them: the career qualification for the category 2, the second entry office, the subject of higher engineering services, or a scientific university degree, master or diploma, in the field of spatial planning, architecture or civil engineering, with a focus on urban planning, multiannual professional experience in management, ideally in public service, well-founded knowledge and safe application of the relevant legal and administrative provisions, in particular under construction planning law; experience in managing complex urban projects, strong leadership, communication and cooperation capability, the ability to combine different interests from administration, politics, citizenship and external stakeholders; Powerfulness, creativity, resilience and the necessary enforcement capacity to safeguard the interests of the city.
