For our Core Facility Information Technology we are looking for a:n Technical:n (m/w/d) responsible for data center and storage infrastructure at the next time. Reference number: 2025-0159 The German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) plays a leading role in the digital transformation in life and health sciences and aims to better understand cancer and develop innovative approaches to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer diseases. The latest information technologies are of particular importance at the DKFZ. For this purpose, the Core Facility Information Technology (ITCF) operates a central data and data center and supervises several thousand individual space computers, mainly under Windows, but also under MacOS and Unix. The ITCF provides this heterogeneous and science-optimized environment with network and security technology, supported in hardware and software issues, operates and optimizes powerful compute and data servers. The ITCF is a competent partner for the implementation of IT projects, both in the fields of administration and technology.

For the ''Server and Compute' working group, we are looking for a:n Technical:n Responsible:n (m/w/d) as support for the diverse and responsible tasks.

Data center management:main responsible:r and contact:in for own and rented data center areas Further development of the data center strategy Conception and responsibility for procurement in the area of data center Interface to internal departments and external providers Software support in the data center environment Monitoring of operating parameters

Coordination and cooperation: Coordination and monitoring of external service providers in maintenance and extension work Coordination of internal departments at work in the data center Support in ensuring smooth data center operation

Technical Responsibility (Hands-on):Support for central file servers and storage systems (e.g. Dell, Purestorage, IBM storage systems) Support in the operation of backup and archive infrastructure Support in the optimization and further development of existing storage and backup systems

Completed (master) degree of computer science, electrical engineering or comparable qualification Multiannual experience in the operation and management of data centers and in the storage infrastructure Funded knowledge with central file server systems and backup solutions Experience in cooperation with providers and service providers Hands-on mentality, structured working and problem-solving competence Communication strength and team capacity Expressed in German and English, both oral and written (min. B2)
