Technical Operations Manager, Data Center Engineering Operations

AWS is looking for a detailed person joining our Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) team. This dedicated group is working to maintain the critical physical infrastructure that supports Amazon Web Services. In particular, this team ensures that the MEP systems (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) of the data center are 100% available while providing first-class customer service to the teams and groups within the data centers.Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the world's most comprehensive and most widespread cloud platform. As Chief Engineer (CE) in the Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO), you are responsible for operating all electrical, mechanical and fire protection/security systems in the data center with the highest efficiency. These include planned preventive maintenance work on devices, daily correction work and emergency response to acute problems. You act as a technical expert and report to the Data Center Facility Manager on site. At the same time, you work with Engineering Operations Technicians (EOT) on site as well as with external service providers. As a central point of contact for all operations in a specific data center, you support Amazon in your own and operated data centers. The equipment of the data centers supporting mission-critical servers must ensure availability of more than 99,999 %. As DCEO Chief Engineer, you conduct projects with a low to medium impact from design to completion. These projects require both independent work and cooperation with external support groups such as engineering, automation, processing and finance – both locally and globally. These include the creation and compliance of important milestones, the collection and prosecution of cost proposals and the documentation of the project results for subsequent implementation in other facilities. The aim of these projects is to advance CE innovation and resilience while reducing operating costs in the facilities. A special advantage of this role is that you initiate, train and support Engineering Operations Technicians to perform practical troubleshooting and operation of electrical and mechanical systems. In addition, the implementation and implementation of location and device-specific training measures is expected. These installations include: Emergency power diesel generators, switching systems, USVs (interruptible power supplies), PDUs (power distribution units), LUFT cooling units (AHUs), refrigeration machines, cooling towers, chemical processing systems, pumps, motors, frequency converters (VFDs) and building automation systems.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
• Experience carrying new design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production
• Experience in MS Excel, Word, and Windows Operating Systems
• Experience with power management and power monitoring systems
• This role requires you to be a national of an EU member state. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Knowledge of critical data center equipment
• Knowledge of engineering documentation, electrical diagrams and standard operating procedures
• Knowledge of building codes and regulations including Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, or OSHA
• Experience in project management in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure
• Experience in Data Center Engineering Operations, with a deep understanding of electrical and mechanical data center infrastructure
• Experience reading and interpreting construction specifications and drawings for all domains
