Research and development of ultra-compact particle accelerators for cancer therapy of tomorrow Conducting independent scientific research in the field of laser plasma particle acceleration, including planning and carrying out experimental series and interpretation of experimental results Design, construction and use of scientific structures Evaluation and documentation of research results Participation in the scientific work of the working group Creation of publications and contributions to scientific conferences Working with Laser Plasma Simulations

PhD in physics or a related field (e.g. optics, electrical engineering), ideally focusing on laser physics, plasma physics or accelerator physics Funded knowledge in the field of laser plasma interactions, accelerator physics and electron beam optics Experience in experimental research and development (R&D) in the field of laser plasma particle acceleration Proven scientific achievements through outstanding publications in the field, contributions to (international) conferences and invited lectures Multiannual experience in multi-terawatt laser systems Experience in the design, construction and operation of optical structures for Terawatt laser experiments Knowledge of data analysis and scientific evaluation (e.g. Python, MATLAB or the like) Self-employed, structured working and the ability to work in an interdisciplinary team Very good English knowledge in word and writing as well as pronounced communication skills
