At the next possible point in time, the position must be fixed in full-time employment at the ZCH-ITS surgical intensive care unit for 6 to 12 months. The ZCH-ITS surgical intensive care unit is the interdisciplinary intensive care unit of the clinics for visceral, thorax and vascular surgery, orthopaedics, accident and plastic surgery as well as neurosurgery at the University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus. As part of the Centre for Surgery, 1,600 patients with surgically and intensive medical disorders of all surgical procedures with the exception of heart surgery are treated each year.

We ensure the maximum intensive medical care after complex operations and interventions, provide polytraumatized patients and are the starting point for emergencies from the surgical and interventional spectrum of the entire university clinic. Our expertise focuses on visceral, thorax and vascular surgery, neurosurgery and accident surgery. An experienced interdisciplinary team can use all intensive medical treatment methods (except ECMO) and a state-of-the-art medical equipment at 30 beds. A flat hierarchy and a close interprofessional exchange between the medical team and the nursing people is living everyday life. A case manager and a clinic assistant complete the team. In addition to medical care, research and teaching in intensive surgical medicine are another focus of our institution. We would like to offer you the opportunity to complete 6-12 months in intensive medicine as part of your specialist training. A structured and demanding training awaits you in an interprofessional team. They carry out medical treatments, monitoring, documentation as well as the visits and handover of intensive patients. During your use, you will learn the application of various ventilation modes as well as invasive techniques such as e.g. Intubation, extubation, application and change of arterial and venous vascular accesses and thoraxdrainagen. Respiratory management, anesthesia and sedation management, emergency medicine as well as surgical wound care are your main tasks.
