The role

The close cooperation with companies is a central pillar of the HPI philosophy. It strengthens the practical relevance for students, creates transfer paths for research and ensures the visibility of the institute in the economy. As Lead Industry Engagements and Partnerships, you are actively developing this ecosystem. You build a strategic bridge between students, researchers and the HPI institutions and relevant companies with the aim of combining academic integrity, real added value for talents and long-term institutional impact.

You carry out a growing team, actively shape the direction, content and structure of the partner portfolio and are a key player in the cooperation between HPI and its industrial partners. In addition, you support the further development of the HPI Career Service Center in the Industry Careers area.

This role combines strategy, relationship management and team leadership. You should like to start and learn in these areas at the same time.

Your tasks

Strategy & portfolio development

You develop and plead the HPI industrial partnership strategy in close coordination with the HPI leadership, based on the transfer strategy and institutional priorities You prioritize partner categories, ecosystems and engagement formats based on their added value for students, researchers and the transfer environments of the HPI You identify gaps in the partner portfolio and develop targeted approaches to strategically relevant industries, companies and ecosystem organisations You keep the overall portfolio in mind and ensure a balanced, coherent development across all partnership levels and formats

Financial responsibility

You tax the budget planning for Industry Engagements and Partnerships (including annual budget, earnings and cost structures) in cooperation with Finance You define the price logic for all partnership modules, formats and staggered packages and make sure that it is clear what is free, cost-covering or redeeming and why

Governance & Compliance

You make sure that all partnership activities operate within the institutional framework of the HPI, including contract systematics, compliance categories, tax classification logic and brand usage rules In consultation with Legal and Finance, you coordinate the correct assignment of activities within the requirements of the right to use You contribute to the further development of processes, governance standards and contract architecture and ensure that these framework conditions enable partnerships instead of slowing down

Institutional coordination

You are an important interface to the central, internal HPI stakeholders You make sure that partnerships are transparent across institutions and that students, researchers, teachers, d-school, engine, maker universe, etc. receive the necessary support and multi-partnerships without losing their academic autonomy

Team leadership

You lead and develop a small, growing team focusing on Partner Development, Industry Partner Events and Industry Careers You build competencies in relationship management, stakeholder communication and compliance-safe negotiation You create a team culture that combines institutional integrity, academic orientation and real cooperation

Reporting & Accountability

You regularly report to the HPI leadership on partner engagement, portfolio development, financial performance, risks and strategic opportunities You're looking for relevant KPIs and motivates reliable data quality in CRM

What you should bring
