The Industrial Sales Engineer is responsible for driving new OEM business and accelerating the growth of Custom Photonics Solutions across Europe. The role includes proactive market and customer development, lead qualification, and the translation of complex customer requirements into tailored photonics solutions in close collaboration with Thorlabs' global business units, engineering teams, and sales organizations. This position owns the development of key customer relationships, the identification of high-potential markets, and the execution of targeted sales campaigns to achieve sustainable revenue growth in Europe. Identify and develop new markets, customers, and OEM projects, as well as new opportunities within existing accounts, to achieve European growth targets for Custom Photonics Solutions Proactively lead business development and sales initiatives across Europe, including strategic planning and targeted campaigns Technically qualify customer requirements and lead teams to deliver customized photonics solutions Act as Key Account Manager for selected strategic customers across the full sales and project lifecycle Serve as the primary customer interface and represent customer interests internally within Thorlab Collaborate close with Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Operations, and global teams to drive execution Provide market insights, support process improvements, and contribute to R&D and marketing strategy Own sales forecasting, CRM management pipeline, and represent Thorlabs at trade shows and key customer visits

5+ years of account management in an outside Sales or Technical Sales role, with demonstrated proactive and positive approach Degree in Physics or other Photonics related discipline Excellent written and verbal communication skills with internal and external customers Good knowledge of full range of Thorlabs products and capabilities worldwide Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Strong data analysis and reporting skills; must be comfortable with presenting concepts to a large audience
