The direct neighbourhood and close cooperation between the children's centre Bethel, the Bethel children's and youth hospices and the outpatient paediatric palliative team Bethel enables a unique holistic care of children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening diseases and their families. Based on the many years of experience of the Palliative project "Der Weg nach Heim", the child-oncological centre of the children's clinic, as well as an extensive network of cooperation partners, the specialized outpatient palliative care (SAPV) for children and young people has been built and further developed since 2012 in close connection with the children's and youth hospices Bethel.

WAS UNS

• The outpatient palliative team "The Way Home" is composed of pediatricians with the training palliative medicine, caregivers for palliative care as well as Pain nurses, social advisers, grief attendants, a pastoral caregiver and other disciplines.
• The close cooperation with the paediatric university ambulances, the children's oncology and intensive care centres of the children's clinic also allows for complex questions or symptom constellations in domestic care.
• In 2025, 105 families were provided in the East Westphalia area, with the 24h-requesting readiness and regular visits to the house, the families are supported at home with the affected children. The relief of suffering symptoms is at the heart of the medical order. The focus is also on home breathing and pain therapy. In addition, the medical staff of the outpatient palliative team is also ready for crisis interventions in children's and youth hospices, with around 130 families in 2025.
• Through regular ring lectures on paediatric palliative care, supervisions, ethic visions and consiles and further trainings, palliative medical specialization is supported in the multidisciplinary team.

PROFIL

• You are in the last year of continuing education for children and young people (m/w/d) or are already a specialist (m/w/d) for children and youth medicine.
• The additional training of palliative medicine is an interesting professional perspective for you.
• Their distinctive team and reflectivity are also a prerequisite for the special commitment in the Palliative area as well as their ability to work independently.
• Knowledge in the field of paediatric intensive care and/or child oncology and/or neuropaediatrics is desirable.
• A driver's license is required for outpatient home visits, the SAPV team has three service vehicles.
