Number: MER00043NE In today's vehicle development process, the protection of the vehicle with regard to corrosion is based, in particular, on experimental studies and the expertise of experienced employees. In the Surface & Corrosion Protection Unit, therefore, a numerical simulation of the corrosion process is developed in the course of digitization. The simulation is intended to quickly, efficiently and correlate the influence of corrosion on components and vehicles with the help of numerical methods on the computer. For this purpose, corrosion-critical component regions are examined in greater detail, inter alia, due to the construction. The corresponding components are tested in the in-house corrosion test. Within the framework of this internship, the focus is on the establishment and implementation of test series and on the precise collection of experimental data. The measurement results obtained form the basis for the numerical simulation. The aim is to generate a load-bearing basis for the validation and further development of the material models by careful testing and data processing. Your tasks: Introduction to the topic and the existing evaluation methods Preparation of Corrosion Samples: Cutting, Pretreatment and Coating of Samples Construction and commissioning of test stands Conduct and support of corrosion tests Collection, evaluation and documentation of the measurement results The activity can begin from August 2026.
