Senior Consultant (m/w/d) (limited for 3 years) Place of work: Frankfurt am Main Position: Full time (part time is possible in principle), limited (3 years) Job ID: 2026_0390_02 The unit “Economics and Growth” analyzes and forecasts macroeconomic development in Germany and analyses structural aspects of the German economy. The basis of macroeconomic forecasts is a large, established macro-economic model, which, in addition to forecasting, is also used for sensitivity and scenario analyses, such as the assessment of economic shocks or economic policy measures. As part of a project, the semi-structural model is to be fully modernised and developed.

You play a key role in the conceptual reorganization of the structure of the future macro model and develop a framework that integrates a VAR-based expectation and adaptation costs of economic subjects. The focus of your work is also on strengthening the long-term theoretical relationships in the model and the associated simulation properties. You estimate behavioral equations and perform simulation calculations to empirically identify the newly placed model and check its results. Together with the team, you implement the modernized model and make sure that it can be used reliably for forecasts, sensitivity and scenario analyses.

Master or equivalent degree with a focus on economics and above-average results (Note 2,49 or better) Experience in independent scientific work, proven by own publications and/or a (in short) completed dissertation Very good knowledge of macroeconomic theory and modern economic procedures Knowledge of national accounts Application-oriented programming knowledge in Matlab and preferably in Dynare Experience with (possibly larger, semi-structural) macroeconomic models is desirable Impressed capacity for analysis, evaluation and address-oriented presentation of complex economic situations Structured, independent and solution-oriented mode of operation Team skills Good knowledge of German and good knowledge of English
