The Innovation Business Unit, as part of the business development, is responsible for the design and implementation of the innovation strategy. The aim is to transfer Jülich's research into knowledge, business and society. The employees act as central contact partners:in all matters relating to innovation, IP, transfer and strategic business cooperation. The Department of Intellectual Property Management I-P advises and accompanies all questions about inventions, patents and patents. As an internal service provider, it advocates the protection of legal results of the Forschungszentrum Jülich, the development and implementation of thematic patent strategies and patent portfolio management. The tasks include, inter alia, the internal consultation of the inventors: in the field of patent law (PatG), the advice on and implementing regulations of the Labour Inventor's Act (ArbnErfG) and the implementation of measures in the field of inventiveness. They advise scientists on all issues of industrial law protection, from the application of the invention to the management of the extensive patent portfolio of the Forschungszentrum Jülich. They analyse inventions in exchange with the scientists:inside and the innovation managers, prepare decisions on inventions and patent applications and implement the decisions taken. They coordinate the processing of patent licensing procedures before the patent offices in close cooperation with the patent lawyers in Germany and abroad. They develop and implement protection strategies for a large-scale research facility operating in the international environment. They are responsible for legal associations with inventors: both internal and external partners: in order to regulate legal relations related to intellectual property rights. In addition, you provide support for the preparation of contracts with IP regulations.

They have a successful scientific university degree (Master) in the field of natural or engineering sciences (a doctorate is desirable) and possibly already relevant further education in the field of patents or even a completed training as a patent attorney/patent (w/m/d) and/or European Patent Attorney. They are accustomed to conceptual and self-employed work and have great interest in working on complex issues. Ideally, you already have first experience in a patent department or a patent attorney's office. They are characterized by a high communicative and social competence as well as a professional and pragmatic appearance against internal and external partners. Its distinct analytical and strategic ability helps you to keep track of and focus on the essentials even in challenging situations. Work in an interdisciplinary, knowledge-oriented environment at the intersection between science, administration, politics and economics will give you pleasure. Your knowledge of German and English is complete.
