The Institute for Textile Technology (ITA) is an internationally aspiring research and qualification service provider in the field of fiber-based high-performance materials and their manufacturing technologies. Our interdisciplinary research fields include applied research and development with industrial partners as well as basic research. The ITA develops semi-finished textile products and products for applications in the Life Sciences and Healthcare, Construction and Housing sectors, Lightweight construction and mobility and for the energy sector. The digitization of textile processes and resource optimization of integrated production processes are also in our focus as are the mapping of complete textile process chains. The research focus of the Composite Production – PRO area is on the development of novel production methods and research into innovative materials for the production of components in fiber composite construction. Current research projects include, for example, the series production of thermoplastic composites, the sandwich construction and the (part-)automated production of components by means of robotics. The site to be filled has a focus on the shaping of reinforcing textiles, for example for the aviation and automotive industry. In the industry-related research projects, the topic includes, in addition to the pure experimental gain of knowledge, the further development and adaptation of test rigs, as well as simulative mapping of the forming process. Further development, development and a targeted, industrially oriented steering of the research topic are expressly desired. You acquire and process independent scientific third-party funded research projects in the field of production technologies for composite production. Interdisciplinary work with other research institutions and industrial partners. You develop new processes, tools and material combinations for fiber composite construction. You process and run confidential research and development projects with industrial partners. You build intensive contacts with research institutions and industrial partners in Germany and abroad and maintain these networks. Of course, you will be represented in presentations and lectures at conferences, symposiums and in education and training. Expected content priorities: Use of intelligent robotics for human-robot collaboration for the production of fiber composite components, e.g. learning from demonstration, imitation learning Innovative natural fiber fabric thermosets Development of the shaping process for various applications, e.g. automotive and sports equipment

You have successfully completed your university degree (master or comparable) in the field of engineering/natural sciences. Ideally, you have prior knowledge in the field of fiber-reinforced plastics, artificial intelligence and their application in production processes, testing technology and sustainability (e.g. LCA) or you have great interest in intensively working on these topics. For application-oriented research and innovative production technologies, you can inspire yourself and have the desire to earn a PhD in this area You have a pronounced initiative and a high team capacity. A systematic way of working and a high willingness to interdisciplinary work as well as curiosity about engineering issues round off your profile. You have very good knowledge of German and English.

Supplier: Chair of Textile Machinery Engineering and Institute of Textile Technology The employment is in the employment relationship. The place shall be occupied at the next possible time and shall be limited to at least 36 months. The aim is to continue employment for a total of five years. The temporary employment is carried out within the framework of the time-limits of the science-time contract law. It is a full-time job. If desired, parttime employment can be made possible.
