The Department of Applied Meteorology researches thunderstorms, tows, noise, wind energy, heavy waves and turbulence. On the one hand, it is about understanding and predicting the corresponding dynamic processes in the boundary layer and the upper atmosphere. On the other hand, tailor-made analysis and prediction products are developed for aviation and wind energy up to the ready for use. The aim of the site is to provide technical support for the meteorological instruments of the department and to implement further developments. The instruments to be supervised are the SWUF-3D drones, Doppler windlidars and microphones for measuring sound propagation in the atmosphere.
