As an IT Architect:in – Foundation Layer, you will continue to advance with colleagues in architectures at the Fachdomäne Foundation Layer – and as REWE digitally bring us into the future! The Foundation Layer offers state-of-the-art developer, cloud and data platforms designed and operated specifically for the demanding requirements of our hybrid cloud and platform engineering strategy. Now you have the chance to actively shape exactly this technical basis, which will enable hundreds of business IT engineering teams every day.

You work with modern technology stacks and design the strategies and decisions for engineering services and tool selection, which form the basis for IT solutions in the other commercial domains. Tasks that keep you posted: Develop architectural visions with Foundation Layer’s product teams and lead transformation initiatives decisively for the IT future. Design and evaluate architectures with a view to efficiency, scalability, security and innovation. Coordinate “Make or Buy” decisions and ensure sustainable integration between different products. Promote proactive changes in the overall architecture through close cooperation with other architects:inside and other disciplines.

Features that make you feel: You have completed a degree in (economic) informatics, engineering or a comparable qualification with an analytical focus. You bring several years of experience in IT or consulting, ideally focusing on solution-oriented work and strategy development. You have already worked in the context of larger hyperscaler or private cloud-based technology platforms. You are familiar with concepts such as workload placement, developer experience, platform engineering and infrastructure as code as well as technologies such as Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD-Tooling (e.g. GitLab CI, ArgoCD) and observability stacks. Knowledge of identity & access management (e.g. OAuth, OIDC) is advantageous. Documentation standards like Arc42 or C4 are familiar to you and you have ideally already gained experience with business-capability modeling. You can clearly analyze complex IT content and communicate target-group-specific. You are equally safe in architectural discussions with the management as well as in technical deep-dives with the engineering teams. You are a reliable partner for customers: both inside and across strong communication skills. You have experience in intercultural teams.
