The Museum Natur und Mensch is divided into the two fields of natural science and ethnological collection. The ethnological collection includes about 20,000 ethnographics from Africa, America, Asia, Oceania and Ancient Egypt, as well as a historical photo archive with about 4,000 photographs. In close coordination with the head of the Ethnological Collection, you are responsible for the collection areas Africa, Oceania and Asia. The collections you care about 12,000 objects and photographs.

You are responsible for the scientific support, processing and strategic further development of the collection areas Africa, Oceania and Asia, including the maintenance of the collection database per as well as the processing of data records for the online collection of museums Freiburg. You take over the concept, development and implementation of partizipativer projects in cooperation with partners in Germany and abroad. You are responsible for the conceptualization and implementation of exhibition projects and for the cooperation of accompanying publications, events and mediation formats. You are a contact person for external enquiries about the collection areas Africa, Oceania and Asia and you take care of volunteers and interns.

You have a completed academic study of ethnology, cultural and social anthropology or interdisciplinary anthropology. Ideally, you have well-founded museum and exhibition experience in at least one of the collection areas mentioned, including safe object handling in the depot and brings experience with participatory mediation and work approaches. At best, you have experience in conducting cooperation projects with partners in Germany and abroad as well as research experience and/or longer stays in Africa, Oceania or Asia. You have very good communication skills, intercultural competence, team skills, reliability, enforcement and conflictability. Ideally, you bring very good English skills; Knowledge of a language from Africa, Oceania or Asia is also advantageous.
