The Vivantes Klinikum Am Urban is a house of focus in the Berlin district of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg with a wide range of somatic departments and is an academic teaching hospital of Charite University Medicine Berlin. The clinic for psychiatry, psychotherapy and psychosomatics includes 220 beds/places, a crisis intervention station, two daily clinics and two institute hospitals. In 2013, the early intervention and therapy centre for young adults with first psychotic episodes – FRITZ am Urban – was founded, one of the first centers of this kind throughout Germany. In addition, a depression focus was developed with IPT treatment and a personality disorder focus with DBT treatment as well as a model project with intensive station-replacement treatment (ambulant intensive treatment, home treatment).

Station 03 Crises are part of the experience repertoire of human life biographies. Station 04 – with four integrated day clinics The focus of the station is the treatment of people with the diagnosis of a Borderline personality disorder (BPS). Since the beginning of 2016, we have been working in our setting with people affected by an emotional regulation disorder according to the concept of dialectic behavioral therapy (DBT).

Station 14 Old people are part of life! But the aging process is not always easy. It is particularly tragic for those affected and relatives when dementia suffers from age. With a lot of motivation, empathy and commitment, we are working together on the solution strategies. In our multi-professional team, which consists of nurses, doctors and physicians, social workers/social workers, occupational therapists/therapists, psychologists/psychologists/therapists/therapists.

Station 21 – with four integrated day clinics The focus of the station is the treatment of affective disorders. For this purpose, a specific multiprofessional, single- and group-therapeutic concept (based on known IPT concepts) is established, which is intended to improve disease processing, re-disorder rate and social participation of the affected persons. In order to support these objectives, some of the affected persons are to be treated in an integrated outpatient clinic by the same team on an outpatient basis (treatment continuity).

Station 23-ACT At station 23-ACT, we offer acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) as part of an openly guided stationary or station equivalent treatment (StäB), which focuses on people with psychosis diseases. Through ACT, we promote acceptance for the unchangeable, while we accompany people to turn to what is valuable for them in life. As a result, our patients and also as a team experience mutual appreciation.

Stations 31 and 32 Stations 31 and 32 each have a capacity of 18 beds and are among the few protected stations in Berlin and nationwide. Thanks to their special structure, You offer more space for intensive treatment and allow adequate care for patients. Thanks to the smaller occupancy, the needs of patients can be addressed individually, which significantly improves the quality of the care.

Station 33 – with four integrated day clinics The addiction disease – goes to everyone! In today's society, the use of addiction is to be found in every population. The disease does not take into account any degree of education, age or gender and can meet everyone. This is the reason for a wide range of patients from all areas of the hospital, with various illnesses and repeatedly exciting tasks that can be handled with patients/patients in everyday life. We are working together on how addiction is created in individual cases, is ubiquitous and can finally be tackled.

FRITZ – with four integrated day hospitals and adolescence treatment The FRITZ at the Urban is an early intervention and therapy centre with integrated daily clinic and adolescence treatment. Here, young adults between 15 and 28 years of age are treated with their first mental crises – especially first-ranked psychosis patients. A specific multi-professional, single- and group-therapeutic concept has been developed to improve disease processing, re-disorder rate and social participation of affected persons. In order to support the objectives, some of the affected persons are to be treated in an integrated outpatient clinic by the same team on an outpatient basis (treatment continuity).

Integrated StäB Team (Stat. 21, 23, 31, 32, Fritz) As part of a model project and station equivalent treatment (StäB), we have two Home Treatment teams. We conduct clinical research and supply research, ourselves initiated or linked. The clinic also has two day clinics and two institute hospitals and is involved in an early detection center for young people with mental crises (soulspace) in the district. Since 2018, we have been offering the station-equivalent treatment at home as part of a multi-professional team. Patients are treated in their social environment every day and can thus avoid a stationary stay.

Integrated day clinics offer both patients and the treatment teams decisive advantages. Patients/patients benefit from flexible care, which allows intensive therapy without completely solving them from their everyday life, and thus facilitates return to an independent life. At the same time, treatment processes can be designed more individually and continuously by combining stationary and semi-stationary approaches, which reduces downfall and strengthens the success of therapy. For the teams, this means more effective cooperation between the various forms of care and the possibility of specifically addressing the needs of patients/patients. Overall, a seamless, patient-centered supply is promoted that supports stability, self-sufficiency and sustainable recovery.

At the stations we work with the Safewards model, all 10 interventions are successfully introduced and implemented. The model describes various forms of positive intervention (such as understanding communication, mutual knowledge, safety and many more). The project takes into account the need to prevent violence in order to have a greater range of deescalative techniques through the training and training of employees in such situations. At the same time, the model makes it possible to make the tasks of the employees more interesting and to ensure the participation of each individual in the change of the stations, thereby achieving higher employee satisfaction.

At four locations we take over the psychiatric care of minors and treat children's and youth psychiatric disorders. At the same time, there are supra-regional supply contracts for the treatment of substance abuse and dependency disorders in young people as well as for psychotherapy. In addition, the focus is on binding disorder / binding-based psychotherapy, psychosomatics, trauma treatment, sexual medicine and toddler psychiatry.
