Be part of the team as: Data Engineer & Architect This is what awaits you: As Data Engineer & Architect, you are part of the IT team at Mercedes-Benz Customer Solutions GmbH. Our team is responsible for the development and operation of our business applications, data solutions and the underlying technical platforms, mainly based on Microsoft and SAP technologies. You shape our technical data landscape from the integration of operational source systems to the reliable provision of data for reporting, analytics and AI use cases. The focus is on the migration of eXtollo (the cloud-based big data and analytics platform developed by Mercedes-Benz) into a standardized target architecture based on Microsoft Fabric and OneLake, as well as the integration of business data from SAP S/4HANA, SAP HANA and other business systems. You combine conceptual strength with pronounced hands-on mentality. You develop ETL and ELT processes, data pipelines, semantic data models and reusable data products. SAP Datasphere as well as integration mechanisms such as APIs, OData Services and Replication, you integrate into the Microsoft-centred data platform according to your needs. We are looking for a self-initiative personality with hand-on mentality, analytical thinking and high technical quality standards. Your responsibility: Continuous technical compilation of eXtollo migration into a target architecture based on Microsoft Fabric and OneLake, including analysis, conception, implementation, quality assurance and transition to regular operation

Development, development and operation of ETL, ELT and data integration processes for data from SAP S/4HANA, SAP HANA, SAP Datasphere, eXtollo, Excel, SharePoint and other relevant sources

Conception and implementation of data pipelines and integrations via APIs, OData services, databases, files and replication mechanisms for reliable, comprehensible and scalable data supply

Creation and optimization of semantic data models, quality-secured business objects and reusable data products for reporting, analytics, automation and AI Use Cases

Establishing the technical basis for a company-wide data catalogue and establishing and maintaining metadata, data descriptions, responsibilities, source information and quality rules

Participation in the definition and implementation of technical standards for data quality, data modelling, data lineage, master data, documentation and the life cycle of productive data solutions in accordance with governance, compliance and corporate standards

Development of automated testing and transparent monitoring mechanisms to ensure data quality, completeness, timeliness and technical availability

Analysis of existing data flows and process dependencies as well as identification and implementation of technical potentials to transform manual, Excel-based and isolated processes into integrated, data-driven and partially automated processes

Providing consistent SAP and Non-SAP business data in OneLake while maintaining relevant technical semantics as a basis for current and future business processes

Structure of the required data pipelines, semantic models and data products for reporting, analytics and AI use cases as well as transparent mapping of the origin and use of the data

Ensuring the stable operation of the data platform and the productive data processes including monitoring, error analysis, root-cause analysis, incident and problem management as well as performance optimization

Ideally, you bring the following: Complete study of computer science, business informatics, data engineering, software engineering or a comparable field of expertise or comparable IT-related training with relevant practical experience.

Practical experience in building, developing or operating modern data platforms and data-driven solutions.

Experience with Microsoft Fabric, OneLake or comparable cloud data platforms as well as the willingness to develop the Microsoft cores of the target architecture.

Experience with ETL and ELT processes, data pipelines, data integration, queries, data modelling and the connection of different source systems.

knowledge of the integration of data from SAP S/4HANA and SAP HANA; Experience with SAP Datasphere, SAP BW or comparable SAP data architectures is an advantage.

Good understanding of semantic data models, business objects and data products as well as the technical classification of master, movement and reference data.

Knowledge of modern integration mechanisms such as APIs, OData Services and Replication, as well as understanding their applications in hybrid SAP and Microsoft landscapes.

Good understanding of data quality, metadata management, master data, data lineage and the life cycle of productive data solutions.

Ability to implement technical solutions hands-on and to transfer architectural, security, governance and operational requirements into a sustainable overall picture.

Experience with monitoring, structured error analysis, root-cause analysis and sustainable stabilization of productive data processes.

Analytical way of thinking, structured problem solution, high quality standards as well as independent, proactive and pragmatic mode of operation.

Very good knowledge of German and English in word and writing - further language skills are welcome.
