About us As a Senior Engineer for Optical Design at SCHOTT, you will be instrumental in the development of next-generation Augmented Reality (AR) systems. You will join a dynamic and global team that transforms innovative concepts into products through optical and mechanical design, advanced simulation techniques and iterative prototyping. We seek individuals who excel in teamwork, can generate bold ideas, explore new technological areas, and drive concepts from prototypes to high-volume consumer products. Design, execute, and analyze experiments to inform design decisions and process development. Manage development projects for new product development or product and process improvement and lead and support process validation studies and proof-of-concept waveguide builds. Evaluate and optimize current components based on measurement data and simulation performance data. Perform optical sensitivity and tolerance analysis of product designs based on simulation and sampling data. Analyze performance data from production and development lines, detect trends, and associated OQC with IPQC to enhance line stability and product quality. Derive optical / functional product specifications, collaborating with internal and external customers. Your profile MS in Optical Engineering, or equivalent experience; a PhD is a plus Experienced optical engineer or optical designer with proficiency in optical simulation tools, such as ZEMAX OpticStudio or LightTools. Knowledge of image processing and optical-display metrics, search as MTF, contrast, luminance, uniformity, etc. Proficiency in data processing using Python, etc. Experience in optical Monte Carlo tolerancing and sensitivity studies Familiarity with optical component manufacturing and statistical process control.
