As a multidisciplinary research service provider with 80 employees, the RIF Institute for Research and Transfer e.V. has been pooling competences from various engineering and business sectors to practical solutions for industry for 30 years. In a dedicated team we work on practical questions of the controlling. To this end, we maintain intensive cooperation with various actors, including industrial contractors and contracting authorities. At the interface between practice and theory, we aim to create theoretically and/or empirically demanding research work that meets the publication requirements of leading journals in the field of controlling. On the research side, in conjunction with the Chair of Corporate Accounting and Controlling at the TU Dortmund, there is an opportunity for promotion. This should take place within a four-year contract period.

PhD/in BWL/Economy (75 %) (m/w/d) Consulting projects and research on “Sustainability Controlling”

Within the framework of the open body, questions of sustainability control are dealt with in the calculation of public contracts. You will participate in expert opinions for contracting authorities and consulting projects of municipal companies. These are questions such as: At what level are CO2 certification costs to be recognised? How can the volatility of certificate prices be taken into account? What costs are incurred for the construction and operation of Carbon Capture plants? What costs are eligible for waste fees? How can the costs of phosphorus recycling systems be reliably predicted in view of legal and technological uncertainties? What requirements should be taken into account for the eligibility of wastewater charges? What sustainability costs are appropriate for public contracts, in particular for CO2 compensation for flights? In addition, you will be involved in the preparation and implementation of training sessions. Finally, you will be active in supporting expert opinions on the costing of self-cost prices. You can organize their work self-determined in a team of doctoral students. There are flexible working time and home office regulations.
