The battery development center is responsible for the development of HV batteries in Mercedes-Benz AG. In advance, these include the concept development with suitable cell and module technologies and their protection by design, prototypes and test methods. Our team Pre-development battery cell develops and tests new cell technologies in an early development phase. One focus is on the mechanical components of a battery cell which influence the properties and the cell behavior. In order to investigate the influence of current-carrying components in a battery cell on internal resistance and cell behavior, we offer a final thesis (Bachelor, Diplom, Master) in an exciting, interdisciplinary environment from September 2025. The focus of the task is: commissioning of a test bench for determining relevant electrical parameters Validation of the test bench (measuring capability) Definition and production of test specimens and structures which represent different parameters of influence on internal resistance Experimental implementation and evaluation of basic investigations deriving relationships from the experiments and linking with theoretical models Ideally, you have an engineering background with electrotechnical deepening. In addition, your university allows you to complete thesis in an industrial company. You will receive an interdisciplinary theme that can be independently edited. There are many ways to take responsibility and face new challenges. A team-wide collaboration with experts allows you to gain insights into the development and production of battery cells, to have an interdisciplinary exchange and to receive support for the implementation of your final work. The final topics will be discussed with the university, you and us.
