The canteen is responsible for catering for EMBL internal meetings, meetings and social events, as well as courses and conferences held at the EMBL Advanced Training Centre. Lunch is served in the form of finger food and dinner for up to 500 guests. The canteen also supplies the EMBL Kindergarten with food and drinks. In addition, there is cooperation with the EMBL ISG hotel, which has its own kitchen and staff and is located about one kilometre from the campus.

The working time is usually 39 hours a week from Monday to Friday, from 6:00 to 14:30 (Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30 to 14:30). In the event of social events, conferences and courses, overtime can occur in the evening hours or weekends.

In general, the working hours can vary and are adapted as needed and the area of application. Layers in other departments, such as the kindergarten kitchen, the ISG hotel and the EMBL cafeteria, may also be found in the evening and weekend.
