The Klinikum der Ruhr-Universität Bochum (UK-RUB) is formed by qualified hospitals and special medical facilities in the area of Bochum, Herne and Ostwestfalen-Lippe, which cooperate with the Ruhr-Universität. At the St. Josef Hospital, a university professor*in (W2-analog) for clinical and translational neurodegeneration (m/w/d) is at the clinic for neurology. to occupy. The Clinic for Neurology in St. Joseph Hospital (Clinic Director: Univ.-Prof. Dr. med. Ralf Gold) is a university clinic of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, a specialist department with high performance, which has all modern diagnostic and therapeutic possibilities. It provides 110 beds, including a certified Stroke unit with 10 beds, over 4,500 fully-stationary patients per year and 6,000 outpatients. The focal points of the clinic are neuroimmunological, neurovascular and the broad field of neurodegenerative and neurogenetic diseases. The clinic is nationally and internationally recognized for the treatment and therapy development of neuroimmunological diseases, in particular multiple sclerosis, myasthenia and CIDP. At St. Josef-Hospital Bochum there is also the Center for Movement Disorders and Neurodegenerative Diseases of the Faculty of Medicine of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum. The Neurological Clinic in St. Josef Hospital also intensively researches neuroimmunological disorders, and another clinically researching focus is on cerebral diseases.

Applicants expect a very good clinical training in the field of neurodegenerative diseases in order to be able to take over the management of the neurodegeneration section in outpatient and inpatient patients. The clinical activity is to be carried out in the medical field. A constructively friendly cooperation with other departments and established neurologists is expected. Within the subject of neurology, the body owner is to represent the focus of established and translational therapies in primary neurodegenerative diseases in clinic, research and teaching. Furthermore, an excellent publication performance in the field of neurodegeneration is to be demonstrated, with a close interdisciplinary connection to adjacent research fields.

The job owner*in is expected to integrate into the research areas of the Faculty (Oncology, Neuroscience and Protein Sciences). Clinical and scientific cooperation with institutions of the Faculty of Medicine and the UK RUB in the existing research areas and development areas as well as participation in existing and future collaborative research projects are desirable. A close cooperation is to exist with the ProDi Research Consortium and the Medical Proteom Center at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum. A positively evaluated junior professorship, habilitation or equivalent scientific achievements as well as the proof of special suitability for academic teaching are provided as well as the willingness to participate in academic self-governing. Likewise, a specialist recognition in the field of neurology must be detected. Further expected: • a high level of commitment in teaching; • the willingness to interdisciplinary scientific work; • the willingness and proven ability to recruit third-party funded research projects.
