Fraunhofer FHR in Wachtberg near Bonn is part of the large Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and one of the leading and largest European research institutes in the field of high-frequency physics and radar technology, including one of the world's most powerful space observation radars. The institute is excellently networked within the international research landscape and works on numerous multinational research projects with academic and industrial partners. It examines concepts, methods and systems for electromagnetic sensors, in particular in the field of radar technology and radiometry.

The Antenna and Frontend department examines concepts for multifunctional radar and antenna systems using simulation methods and experimental verification. As a group management, you are responsible for the strategic orientation and the research priorities in the field of planar construction and integration technology.

The aim of this project is the consistent continuation of the higher-level strategy and the associated technology roadmaps of the department and their implementation in the projects for new applications and developments. As part of this, you will acquire and coordinate corresponding projects by public funding providers and industrial clients - also together with other organizational units, institutes or cooperation partners. What you do with us

• Perception of professional and disciplinary personnel responsibility in coordination with department management
• Responsibility for the professional development of the team members and the scientific competences of the group
• Defining and coordinating the Group's strategic orientation with the Head of Division
• Acquisition of research and industrial projects with innovation character
• Coordination of projects and cooperation with internal and external stakeholders
• Creation of high-level scientific publications and their presentation at conferences, workshops and events (also in international areas)

What you bring

• Including academic studies in the field of information technology, electrical engineering or a comparable field
• Multiannual, relevant professional experience in the design of high-frequency circuits
• Experience in the accompaniment of manufacturer processes as well as in the handling of high-end measuring devices for the characterization of high-frequency components and the research of planar system and circuit concepts
• First management experience from technical, disciplinary or project management
• Very good analytical skills, pleasure in abstract thinking and conceptual work
• Experiences in project acquisition and entrepreneurial thinking
• Self-working with hands-on mentality
• Very good knowledge of English and German in word and writing
