The GSI Helmholtz Centre for Schwerionenforschung in Darmstadt operates one of the leading particle accelerator systems for science. The new FAIR plant (Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research) is currently being built in international cooperation, one of the largest research projects worldwide. The “Superconducting Magnets & Test” (SCM) department is looking to strengthen its team within the “Magnet Testing & Technology” group at the next possible time Engineer*in (d/m/w) Mechanical Engineering/Feinwerktechnik/Mechatronics Kennz. 26.72-6353 for the qualification of superconducting components of the FAIR particle accelerator system. As part of the FAIR project, many superconducting electromagnets will be tested in the coming years and prepared for installation and commissioning in FAIR. Their active participation in the qualification of the components will contribute significantly to the successful start of the FAIR systems.

Assembly of superconducting electromagnets into the test cryostats Assembly of various auxiliary devices to the components to be tested for carrying out acceptance tests Assembly of the components to be tested to the test benches and production of connections to the supply media Construction of measurement systems and maintenance and calibration execution of (simple) construction and manufacturing tasks Planning and technical support of work preparation and internal logistics processes Contact person for internal communication with the logistics department and the mechanical workshop Creating documentation for quality assurance of superconducting magnets.

completed technical vocational training (e.g. mechatronics, precision mechanicsin or industrial mechanicin) and a further education as a state-tested technician*in, preferably the field of mechanical engineering, precision engineering or mechatronics, or a comparable qualification practical experience in equipment and plant assembly routined handling of MS Windows operating systems as well as MS Office applications good knowledge of English and German in word and writing quality-oriented, structured way of working with a high level of readiness and sense of responsibility as well as a strong team capability.
