The GFZ is the national center for researching the solid earth in Germany. We promote the understanding of dynamic processes for addressing global challenges – from mitigating the impacts of natural hazards to preserving our environment in times of global change to responsible use of natural resources. We are a member of the Helmholtz Association, the largest German scientific organization. With around 1,200 employees and approx. We contribute 500 guests to the Helmholtz Research Area Earth and the Environment and combine top research with social relevance and international cooperation. Our work integrates multidisciplinary studies on Earth's systems and uses advanced technologies and infrastructures to explore solutions and carry our knowledge into society. The following shall be placed in the Data and Information Management section (Geoinformation section): Library Assistant (w_m_d) Reference number 11290 The library of the science park Albert Einstein is a service facility for scientific work at Telegrafenberg. It serves for the joint use of library resources by employees of the GFZ Helmholtz Centre for Geo Research, the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), the Alfred Wegener Institute, Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research (AWI), Research Centre Potsdam and the RIFS Research Institute for Sustainability at the GFZ. It provides printed and electronic media as well as information needed for current research. The library is also the contact point for all aspects of scientific publishing. Our services focus on providing services for the creation, spreading and archiving of scientific results. For the areas of acquisition, cataloging and support in publication management, we are looking for reinforcement for our team.

Acquisition and cataloguing of all media types (printed and digital) in the Koha library management system

Administration of journals and licensing agreements

Processing and management of long-term borrowings

Cooperation in the Open Access team, in particular advice and support from the scientists:

Working with the publishing services as well as further development (preparation and publication of conference contributions, books and reports incl. Identifiers

Required qualifications: completed university studies (Bachelor, Diploma) in the field of library or information science

Knowledge of library rules (RDA)

ideally knowledge in the field of telephony and document delivery

Knowledge in the fields of open access, publication management and scientific communication or the willingness to work on

strong interest in current developments on new scientific communication forms and scientific information exchange

strong communication competence

Teamability, own initiative and resilience

well-founded language skills in German and English ( oral and written)

Required qualifications: Knowledge of the Catalogization and Care of Cartographic Materials
