Platform Engineer - Containerized & High Availability Systems (m/w/d)

As a primary digitization partner of the Bundeswehr, we provide stable, safe and efficient IT services in Germany and abroad, from basic operations to the field close to the application and thus contribute to the continuous increase in the leadership and operational capacity of the Bundeswehr. With over 7,700 colleagues, we operate and modernise one of the largest and most complex IT infrastructures in Germany. Platform Engineer - Containerized & High Availability Systems (m/w/d) from now on and in full time at one of our BWI locations. The AIX department is assigned to the Central Operations area and is responsible for the planning of the AIX IT infrastructure to be used (power-based hardware) as well as the installation and maintenance of the AIX operating system. The SW components used on this platform are also supervised and maintained and new technologies are prepared for productive use. The implementation of security and compliance guidelines, the provision of a production platform and second-level support for stable operation are also among the areas of responsibility. Currently, the focus is on the construction of OpenShift and IaaS environments for a cloud-ready architecture, as well as increasing automation through the use of the Ansible Automation Platform to aim for a zero-touch approach for uninterrupted operation.

Construction, planning and operation of container-based infrastructures based on RedHat OpenShift Administration and automation of IBM Power System environments using PowerVC and PowerVM Management and optimization of high-availability storage solutions with IBM Spectrum Scale (Ex GPFS) and IBM Fusion Cooperation with teams from infrastructure, DevOps and applications to integrate cloud-based solutions Work in agile and virtual teams across multiple locations Administration and ensuring secure server operation in compliance with predetermined processes Ensuring compliance with associated documentation, eliminating deviations from the specified security settings patch management, firmware updates etc. as part of the maintenance of power hardware, software and related infrastructure components Technical documentation and operating manuals Change Management (Development, Planning, Implementation, Tracking) according to ITIL

Complete training with IT reference or comparable qualification 5 years of professional experience in complex IT landscapes Multiannual experience in PowerVC/PowerVM, OpenShift and IBM Spectrum Scale (Ex GPFS) in the enterprise environment Good knowledge of automation tools such as Ansible Automation and Python Experience in OpenShift installations with container solutions Experience in Server Installation, Virtualization, Live Partition Mobility Knowledge with RedHat and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server Ready to participate in call readiness and monthly maintenance windows Own-responsible structured workDeployment for new technologies Teamability and reliability, readiness for agile work Good knowledge of German and English in word and writing
