A branch of the museum is the museum area in the Sülchenkirche Rottenburg. The Sülchenkirche is one of the oldest Christian sites in southwest Germany. For about 1500 years, the place has had an uninterrupted burial tradition. The oldest stone building discovered under the present church was built at the latest in the 7th century. The place is also rich in tradition, because it has served as a burial place for the Bishops of Rottenburg since 1869. The museum area in the lower church makes the foundations of the previous buildings visible (about 1000 / 12th century). In two exhibition rooms you can see the impressive tomb finds from the early Middle Ages and the Baroque, which have brought to light the excavations under the Sülchenkirche. A media presentation makes the history of the place alive.
