Who we are and what we do? We are the Department of Business Development at the Chair of Production Systems. As part of the WZL machine tool laboratory at RWTH Aachen University, our focus is on the strategic development of manufacturing companies. Especially in Germany, the manufacturing industry is facing strong changes. Business development describes the task of adapting and realising companies in response to new technologies, market changes or social and political developments. We are concerned not only with the production technologies themselves, but rather with the development of technological and organizational skills and with the design of sustainable value creation processes. Our overall perspective on production requires that we set up our expertise as broad as possible. In addition to classical engineering, computer science and operational sciences, we are therefore using it. Together with our industrial partners, we ensure a sustainable future of the production site Germany. We enable companies to successfully design and implement their strategic transformation. As a result, together with the companies, we create organizational structures that match sustainable value creation. We plan to use conventional and non-conventional manufacturing technologies to strengthen the company's unique features. We also develop resilient supplier networks and develop new strategies for successful positioning of companies in your target markets. Current trend topics, such as artificial intelligence and environmental sustainability, decisively determine our actions. In the field of production technology, we are particularly concerned with digital networking, the development of data-driven applications and the use of additive manufacturing processes. It is only through this diversity of content that we are able to agree on economic competitiveness with the sustainable orientation of companies – and thus to sustainably strengthen Germany's production site. About us The RWTH is certified as a family-friendly university. The formal prerequisite for the doctorate is a very well completed university degree, either as a master or a comparable degree in engineering, business administration or similar technical or scientific studies. Our common way is to prepare you for the time after the doctorate, so you should have the pleasure of learning new things, as well as with enthusiasm to constantly advance your personal, professional and methodical development.

What can you do with us? Our offer The employment is in the employment relationship. The place shall be occupied at the next possible time and shall be limited to 2 years. A further employment of at least 1 year is envisaged. There is the option to extend the place by another 3 years The temporary employment is carried out within the framework of the time-limits of the science-time contract law. It is a full-time job. There is a doctoral opportunity. The grouping depends on the TV-L. The place is rated with EG 13 TV-L. The job description is aimed at all sexes.
