Number: MER0003PVP In the Mercedes-Benz plants we already use a variety of data mining, process mining and machine learning methods. Now we want to expand our innovation field and build and develop an internal automation tool based on Large Language Models (LLMs). It is important to integrate different data sources into a knowledge database and to automate them via MCP protocol. The aim is to provide internal knowledge not only in a structured manner, but also to enable automated workflows. It expects an exciting environment where you have great design potential. These challenges include: Development and expansion of an LLM-based automation framework to support our internal processes

Planning and implementation of test strategies and automation to ensure high quality and reliability of the tool

Connection of various tools and interfaces (e.g. via MCP protocol) for automated extraction, processing and provision of data

Use and evaluation of LLM frameworks such as Langchain, Langraph or A. to orchestrate complex automation tasks

Conception and further development of an AI-based knowledge management and RAG system: extraction, semantic indexing and networking of expertise from diverse sources in a vector database and knowledge graphs to enable context-based, precise answers and automation based on state-of-the-art retrieval concepts

Implementation of design patterns and best practices in software architecture to ensure a robust and scalable system

Performance optimization and scaling of your algorithms (e.g. using Python, PySpark or other distributed technologies)

Self-research and evaluation of new AI procedures and tools to keep up to date technology

Documentation and knowledge transfer in the team by creating reports and interactive dashboards

The internship can start from September 2025.

Course in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Development, Business Informatics or a comparable degree programme

Great interest in artificial intelligence, in particular in Large Language Models and their practical applications

Good programming knowledge in object-oriented languages, ideally Python, and first experiences with software design patterns

Ideally first touch points with frameworks such as longchain, langraph or similar AI toolkits as well as basic knowledge about vector databases, knowledge graphs or knowledge management

Joy in developing automated tests to ensure the stability and quality of software solutions

Analytical and independent working, coupled with creativity in developing new solutions

enthusiasm for teamwork and the willingness to work into complex topics and actively introduce new ideas
