The Leibniz Institute for Vegetable and Ornamental Plants (IGZ) conducts excellent research in horticulture and the associated plant, environmental and social sciences. The IGZ, based in Großbeeren near Potsdam and Berlin, is a member of the Leibniz Association (WGL). Our aim is to develop scientifically sound solutions for areas that are currently challenging horticultural systems: climate change, biodiversity and pesticide reduction, healthy nutrition and food quality, and resource-efficient agricultural and food systems. Our knowledge covers the entire spectrum, from molecular plant physiology and biochemistry to human nutrition, food safety and horticultural production systems.
