The Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP) is a globally outstanding centre for fusion research. With around 1,100 dedicated employees in Garching near Munich and Greifswald, we are dedicated to researching the foundations for fusion power plants. These power plants generate energy without climate-damaging emissions, are safe, sustainable and almost inexhaustible – similar to the sun. Fusion power plants have the potential to play an important role in the energy supply of future generations. At the IPP site in Greifswald we conduct research at the Großexperiment Wendelstein 7‐X. This fusion plant is the world's largest of the Stellarator type. High-precision assembly and dismantling of the W7-X individual components according to quality testing and production plan (QAAP) under clean room conditions Positioning and measurements with the Faro-Arm®, including logging of the respective measurement results Adaptation work between different W7-X single components and pipelines according to isometric specifications Welding seam preparation work, even under clean room conditions forming work such as bending, cutting and fitting of sheets, pipes, holders and fittings, also on the CNC bending machine
