Deputy Head of the Information Technology Department (m/f/d)

The TIB is a foundation of public law of the Land of Lower Saxony. With around 600 employees and an budget of around 60 million euros, it is one of the largest information infrastructure facilities in Germany. As a German Central Library of Technology and Natural Sciences, our pioneering services ensure the infrastructural requirements of high-quality information and literature supply for research in science and industry. Our services as a university library ensure local care for the Leibniz Universität Hannover. The following shall be placed in the Technical Information Library (TIB): Deputy Head of Information Technology (m/w/d) It is an indefinite body. Regular weekly working hours are 39.8 hours (full time). In principle, the workplace is part-time. The grouping takes place in the pay group 14 TV-L. Within TIB, the Information Technology (IT) department is a service provider providing a broad portfolio of IT services. The department is divided into four teams, two with the focus on application operation and two with the focus on system technology. The department currently has a total of about 25 jobs and operates its own data center for TIB.

As Deputy Head of Department, you take over the operational management of the IT department. You plan and control measures and projects (e.g. system migrations, digitization measures, updates) and ensure safe operation of the IT infrastructure. In the further development of the IT strategy and the IT processes within the framework of the overall strategy, you will be involved. When implementing procurement measures, managing the IT budget and resource management, you act together with the department management. You are in ongoing contact with all the TIB departments and advise on the use of IT. You also operate as a contact person for external partners and service providers:in and represent the interests of TIB from IT perspective. You promote the professional and personal development of employees in the IT department. You support the Information Security Officer in the further development of the Information Security Management System and create security concepts.

You have a successfully completed academic degree (master, university diploma or comparable) from the field of computer science or a comparable relevant discipline. You have a high personal commitment and strong own initiative. You have the ability to conceptual and innovative thinking and have a strong communication and negotiation capability. You bring the broad IT expertise necessary for the task in the fields of IT infrastructure, data management, information security and the operation of modern cloud solutions. You have professional experience (required at least 5 years) in the management of IT organizational areas. You have active English skills.
