On behalf of the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK), the Centre of Competence “PtX Lab Lausitz – Practical Laboratory for Power and Basic Materials from Green Hydrogen” was established by the ZUG gGmbH in 2021 and is constantly being developed. It supports policy, business, society and science on the path to greenhouse gas neutrality by linking the electricity sector with transport and industrial sectors (PtX). The PtX Lab Lausitz acts as a knowledge platform, impulse generator and contact for industry, politics and science. The focus of the work is the introduction of an environmentally sound production and use of PtX products. The PtX Property has focused on the deossilization of the chemical industry, available non-fossil PtX starting materials and a sustainable raw material strategy. Senior Consultant (m/w/d) Not only in your own Fachgebiet (PtX basics), you also bring your expertise across the field into various projects of the think tank. Your thematic focus is on the analysis and development of policy recommendations.

Tasks

• You analyze the current state and development of the market turmoil as well as the application of current-based chemical basic and fuels across different sectors (including in the chemical industry) and evaluate policy instruments as well as the policy landscape.
• Based on these analyses, you develop policy instruments, strategies and other solutions that contribute to a sustainable raw material strategy, to the deossilisation of the chemical industry and to the availability of non-fossil chemicals and fuels.
• From the results, you will create publications (e.g. academic articles, policy briefings) for different audiences, prepare presentations and lectures for professional publicity and assist in general public relations.
• In team-wide cooperation, you will participate in the development and implementation of event formats, such as specialist events on current legislative procedures, and support their implementation.
• You connect the Centre of Excellence with relevant actors from industry, science and politics at regional, national, European and international level and encourage these contacts through active stakeholder management.
• You support PtX's technical questions in the Ministry's advice and, in particular, process short-term written requests.

Requirements profile

• completed academic studies (Master or University Diploma)
• relevant professional experience and expertise in policy analysis and policy advice desirable, also in the Think Tank context
• pronounced ability to interdisciplinary work and thinking
• first knowledge in one of the themes of the PtX Basics (Defossilization of the Chemical Industry, Non-fossile PtX Starting Materials and/or Sustainable Raw Materials)
• high interest in environmental and climate protection issues, in particular in political, economic and technical implementation
• good German and very good English language skills in word and writing
• readiness for occasional journeys at home and abroad
