Sustainability Engineer – KI & Systems Engineering (m/f/d)

You work in research and industrial projects along the entire product life cycle – from the identification and structuring of sustainability potentials to the methodological conception and technical implementation and validation in real application scenarios. You develop and implement data-driven methods, prototypes and demonstrators in Sustainability Engineering, in particular for Life Cycle Assessments (LCA), Product Carbon Footprints (PCF) and the Digital Product Pass (DPP), using artificial intelligence for analysis and automation. You integrate sustainability assessments and AI-based functions into existing engineering tool landscapes, data flows and processes and evaluate their added value in terms of transparency, efficiency and decision support. Interdisciplinary, you work with colleagues, industrial partners and contracting authorities, prepare results to address and present them convincingly. Last but not least, you will publish your results in technical contributions, participate in workshops, training and acquisition activities and promote the further development of the Sustainability Engineering theme.

An above-average university degree in a technical or economic field such as e.g. B. Computer Science, Business Informatics, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Business Administration Experience or knowledge of methods and tools in one or more of the following areas: Life Cycle Assessment, Product Carbon Footprint (PCF), Digital Product Pass (DPP); ideally complemented by knowledge in AI/ML for analysis and automation Good know-how along the product life cycle, e.g. in Systems Engineering, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), product development or related approaches – also to systematically integrate sustainability aspects into development processes The ability to work quickly into new application domains and regulatory frameworks (e.g. in the context of sustainability and circular economy), to analyze complex relationships in a structured manner and to translate them into implementable, data-based concepts Joy in convincingly representing technical content to customers, project partners and scientific audiences. Very good communication skills in German (mind. C1) and English
