As Lead Automation Architect, you will then support us in the field of Digital Processes & Solutions for the development of diverse software and automation solutions for the operating and measuring equipment of our production.

Developing architecture for automation technology in projects with high novelty, range and/or criticality – taking into account and balancing the challenges in other areas of expertise

Support and advise development teams in control technology in the implementation of projects, conduct architectural reviews, define standards and procedures for architectural processes, and accompany the “architecture-Chapter”

Illuminate requirements for automation technology from different perspectives to find sustainable and creative solutions that deposit on the long-term strategy and target architecture

Employees, including (senior-)architects, are professionally guided across domain boundaries

actively driving the digital transformation and our roadmap – with target architecture and boundary conditions

present their own ideas and convince others of their own proposals

actively initiate and advance networking with other Zeiss units

a well-founded scientific education in the field of natural sciences and engineering, with master/graduate degree and subsequent doctorate

an additional training (e.g. CPSA-Advanced Level – iSAQB) in system engineering with deeper practical experience or equivalent knowledge acquired in professional practice as a system architect/system engineer of large R&D projects in the field of control technology

proven experience (at least 10 years) in the development of complex, cross-competence architectures in control technology, of which several years as a professionally responsible architect in control technology over several architectural levels

Experience in requirement management and associated tool knowledge (polarion or enterprise architect) and documented creation of system designs for control technology using UML/SysML

profound methodological and technical knowledge in the automation of machines in mechanics, electrical engineering and software (including Siemens-SPS, Siemens HMI, propulsion technology, safety technology, control technology, data management and MES)

knowledge of measurement technology and machine regulation (EU)2023/1230

Experiences in the commissioning of machine controls (Siemens SPS & TIA Portal), drive technology (Sinumerik & Sinamics) for equipment

strong professional leadership skills and the ability to guide interdisciplinary teams professionally

recognised effect as Role Model (coaching of employees, acceptance of responsibility, targeted delegation)

Experience in managing (strategic) projects with complex interfaces and many stakeholders with conflicting interests

a pronounced communication and moderation competence, enforcement and negotiation skills, as well as excellent knowledge of German and English in word and writing
