Expert in Data Modelling and Balancing

Branch: Building services and waste... Branch: Building services and waste disposal

Heat and energy are our contribution to the quality of life – every day new. As BEW Berliner Energie und Wärme GmbH we supply the capital with electricity and heat in a climate-friendly manner. Our district heating network is the largest Western Europe with a length of more than 2,000 kilometres. We supply about one third of the Berlin households with heat. With the know-how of our 2,300 employees, we cover the entire value chain of district heating – from production to grid operation and expansion to distribution. At high pressure, we work at the coal exit until 2030 and at climate-neutral production from 2045. In this way, we support the Land of Berlin significantly when reaching its climate targets. On the way to this we want to realize a higher proportion of renewable energies and waste heat. To do this, we need to redesign many of our sites and facilities. For this challenge and the associated tasks, we need people who are fully committed to our common goal of a local heat transition – people like you. .

For the BEW Berliner Energie und Wärme GmbH we are looking for you as an expert at the next possible time: in data modelling and accounting at the Berlin site in an indefinite position.

As an expert:in data modelling and accounting, you are the specialist contact person for power plant technical accounting models in the reporting team, with a clear focus on their data-driven, scalable and automated implementation. You introduce sound domain knowledge from energy generation and translate physical, process and regulatory requirements into data models and calculation logics. With your experience and enthusiasm for processes in power, heat and cold generation You actively digitize the production and distribution processes and contribute to the further development of standardized and auditable accounting models. You report directly to the Asset Information Manager.

Your tasks You model comprehensive energy, fuel, water and other technical balances. You analyze driving modes, operating states and partial and transition processes of generation systems and convert them into structured computing models. You implement classic division processes (e.g. carnot division, working value method) as well as other methods such as the operating phase model and KWK processes. You support new construction projects in determining the measuring points required for the accounting models in new production facilities. You develop reusable technical modules, such as data models, for typical power plant configurations. You are the first specialist contact for balancing water flows in our production facilities. You actively participate in the annual audit processes (economic auditing, certifications) and support new requirements, e.g. in the introduction of a CSRD report. You assess measured values in terms of plausibility, physical limits and redundancy from the point of view of the power plant operation. You support the Data Quality Expert or Information Steward in data validation. You work closely with data and IT teams and accompany the professional data processing and visualization. You take over the project management and tax external service providers.

Your profile University degree in energy engineering, physics, engineering or comparable disciplines Very good knowledge of process and electrotechnical relationships along the energy-economic value chain including material and energy circuits Knowledge of mathematical modelling of energy processes and data processing from power plant processes Interest in developments in the regulated energy market (energy transition, heat transition, sector coupling), sustainability/ESG issues and regulatory requirements (CSRD, EU-Taxonomy) Self-employed, result-oriented and proactive working methods as well as pronounced communication and analytical skills Solution-oriented work approach Technical and economic knowledge and the ability to combine both perspectives for decision-making Effective, cross-site cooperation and willingness to exchange knowledge Motivation to actively shape new topics and advance changes Flowing German knowledge on at least level C1 as main working language (compulsory) You meet about 70 percent of the requirements?
