Number: MER0003XLL The occupant simulation/ restraint system analysis within the Passive Security department is responsible for the numerical/virtual interpretation of the occupant protection for all global legal and rating requirements in frontal and side impact. This includes the functional design and vehicle-specific tuning of the restraint systems (air bag and belts) and the occupant safety-relevant design of the interior components. These challenges include: Structure and implementation of explicit FEM calculations (finite element method): Design and optimization restraint system (Airbag and belt)
Validation of the simulation results by means of carriage and total vehicle crash tests
Methodological studies: Evaluation of new dummy models and seating positions for future load cases
Analysis, evaluation and documentation of the simulation results and validation by means of hardware tests
Further development and optimization post-processing: Extension of automatic evaluation scripts
The activity can begin from April 2026.
Study programme in the field of mathematics or technology (engineering, civil engineer*in, physics, etc.)
