As part of the Hamburg metropolitan region, the district of Segeberg is conveniently located in the middle of Schleswig-Holstein between the North and the Baltic Sea and is a reliable employer for around 1,100 employees. As a member of our team, you ensure that animal welfare and animal health requirements are complied with. We as a team are responsible for a part of the county veterinarian office and for the entire district.

Your tasks:

Monitoring of agricultural, commercial, private and other animal husbandry, in particular as regards animal welfare and animal health rules, cross compliance and conditionality Preparation of expert opinions/reviews for other authorities, other departments in the home and the prosecutor's office Implementation of authorisation and authorisation procedures and monitoring of authorised/authorised activities by animal welfare and animal health rules Monitoring and attesting of animals in national, intra-Community and international trade, as well as in travel and monitoring of ongoing animal traffic in cooperation with the police Implementation of control measures in the event of animal diseases and participation in the crisis centre

Your profile:

a successfully completed study of veterinary medicine and an approbation as a veterinarian health suitability for carrying out the special external service burdens associated with the advertised activities (e.g. animal contact, inhalative loads, walking/stewing/knives on slippery soils, adverse weather and inaccessible terrain) knowledge of German in word and writing (competence level at least C1 according to the common European reference framework for languages) good computer knowledge the driving licence of class B or 3 and willingness to use your own car for cost refund readiness to service outside regular hours and weekends

and beyond ideal the qualification as a specialist in public veterinary Knowledge of professional law at EU, federal and national level with regard to animal health and animal welfare, as well as expertise in general administrative and risk prevention law the motivation to make animals strong a high level of team capacity, planning and organisational ability and conflictability a strong understanding and decision-making
