The IT area is an internal IT service provider and provides high-quality IT services for the centre and helps our customers and users to master the daily challenges and to make use of demand- and demand-oriented technologies and IT services for science and administration. In addition to classic IT-Full-Service, IT also offers platform services and infrastructure services. For this purpose, we operate our own data centers at our headquarters in Geesthacht as well as remote-controlled server rooms at other locations. In the field of Linux systems, we are currently hosting around 200 Linux servers in our data centers to provide a wide range of internal and external applications and services from almost all research and expertise within the center. Support and further development of our container and orchestration infrastructure (Kubernetes, Ansible, OpenShift) Optimization of the platform for scientific applications Development and implementation of user training Operating system-side support of our Linux servers (RHEL) in close coordination with application managers from all areas of the center Advising other areas of expertise in complex IT-technical issues relating to the operation of linux-based (server) applications Support our customers in the setup and secure and reliable operation of the servers Automation and standardization of our Linux infrastructure Ensuring availability and security of systems Release and patch management for our Linux infrastructure Creation and maintenance of technical documentation and SLAs

Successfully completed university studies (master, diploma or comparable) in the natural/technical/industrial field or comparable training multiannual professional experience desirable, but not condition sound knowledge of the Linux system administration on Red Hat Certified Engineer Level (RHCE) - certification of advantage Experiences with web servers / Reverse Proxies and Load Balancers Experiences with common orchestration tools Programming skills in common scripting languages such as Python or Bash Knowledge of popular DevOps tools and methods (Git, GitLab, CI/CD...) first experience with Docker, Kubernetes and VMware desirable customer-oriented thinking and acting in conjunction with high analytical skills above-average communication and presentation skills and team skills
