The threat to the IT systems of the Hessian universities has increased significantly in recent years. Complex attacks, automated attacks, including using generic AI, as well as targeted attacks on research and management infrastructures increasingly require the ability to continuously monitor security events, to correlate centrally and to evaluate them. Modern IT security architectures require a powerful security information and event management (SIEM) and clearly defined security operations processes (SOC). Cooperation between eleven Hessian universities under the direction of the Goethe University is intended to enable the establishment and operation of an efficient, hessen-wide structure.

At this varied and responsible point, you will take over as a central project manager the self-responsible conception, the construction and implementation of the core-wide project “IT-Safety – Building a core-wide SIEM-/SOC structure for universities”. The aim of the project is to develop and implement a multi-level security architecture for the participating universities. This includes, in particular, the following tasks: Management and overall responsibility for the planning, control and implementation of the hessen-wide project “IT-Safety – Building a hessen-wide SIEM/SOC structure for universities” with eleven Hessian universities Conception, construction and technical control of a multi-level and interdisciplinary project team to achieve the defined project objectives Development and establishment of a suitable project structure with working groups for project-relevant topics such as the introduction of SIEM or incident-response processes Conception and development of a common target architecture for a core-wide IT security structure at the participating Hessian universities as a central project result Planning, implementation and control of the introduction of SIEM and SOC solutions, including the monitoring of selection and award procedures, target- and result-oriented project management and ensuring the mid-range exchange of information Representation of the project vis-à-vis the HMWK as a supporter within the framework of the Hessian University Digital Pact (HDPH) Representation of the project to the HDPH Coordination Committee, university bodies and commissions, as well as to university departments and institutions Representation of project interests to external service providers and software providers Preparation, implementation and documentation of project-related acceptance, transfer and completion processes
