JOB PURPOSE:

The Out Home Ice Cream data is stored in many different local source systems. In order to be able to use these data, they must be collected, centrally stored and integrated. This is done in a local warehouse, enriched with global sources and supported by software solutions and functions developed worldwide.

As an expert in Data Engineering (m/w/d), you play a key role in the independent collection, storage, cleaning and integration of this data. As Data Engineer & Steward (d/w/m), you will be part of a team responsible for the core systems and applications used and owned by the Out of Home DACH organization, as well as for the data infrastructure and reporting. In the daily business you work on the following tasks:

• Own setup of a local Data Warehouse / Data Lake including responsible administration and maintenance
• Continuous querying and optimization of the data structure, preprocessing and pipelines
• Self-monitoring of costs and implementation of optimizations
• Management and administration of data pool systems (data validation, user and master data management, data purification, process automation)
• Ensuring clean, accurate and integrated data (including SSD) and managing contacts to data suppliers
• First contact person as an expert in data questions – especially as a counterpart for data analysts in your and global team
• Responsible coordination and execution of data upload by local marketing and sales teams to the local Data Warehouse / Data Lake.
• Integration of the data provided from different sources using the globally developed matching algorithm and the locally provided merge rules.
• Establishing activities and new processes to increase data quality and quantity, e.g. by increasing customer profiling rate
• Responsible for building pipelines that provide local data to the global data platform and vice versa.
• Development and establishment of a future-proof and slim data flow architecture (definition of primary systems, avoidance of data doubling, avoidance of data conflicts, etc.)
• Creating new KPIs, calculations and data comparisons in cooperation with Data Analysts to provide new insights into dashboards and analyses
• Creation of an architecture that makes the integrated data accessible to local stakeholders and facilitates their lives
• Ensuring the security of the local platform and compliance with legal regulations.
• Individually responsible implementation of projects to ensure data quality, to accelerate data availability and to generate insights – if necessary in close cooperation with the Data Analyst

• Study in the field of IT, data engineering or comparable studies or Qualifications
• At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in a comparable role
• Insufficient experience in the diverse areas of data processing
• Agile methods
• Microsoft tools: Excel, Power BI, Outlook, Teams, Power Machines
• Azure Data Factory, Databricks, SQL, Fuzzy Matching
• German and English, French is advantageous

By the end of 2025, Unilever will split off his ice cream business. This job is also transferred to the new ice cream company.
