Head of Department for Transport Projects (m/f/d)

Our client, the city of Freiburg im Breisgau, is a dynamic, growing city on the edge of the Black Forest with a high priority for sustainable mobility and future-oriented infrastructure. The Garten- und Tiefbauamt contributes significantly to modernising the urban infrastructure and shaping Freiburg as an innovative, viable habitat.

In the course of a personal follow-up, we are looking for an experienced manager (m/w/d) for our client, who is responsible for the engineering project management and planning as a department manager with responsibility for around 40 employees, as well as the strategic development of important transport and infrastructure projects.

Heading and further development of the Transport Projects department with professional and personal leadership of the approximately 40 employees and representation of the department inside and outside Strategic development of the project development and planning processes and motivators for sustainable solutions in urban transport and infrastructure planning Total responsibility for planning and implementing major transport and development projects (HOAI performance phases 3–5) Responsibility for projects of settlement water management, flood and heavy rain protection and water management (also HOAI performance phases 1–5) Personal takeover of project management in strategically and legally particularly demanding major projects Optimization of processes and control instruments in project planning and control as well as close coordination with department management, political bodies, specialist offices and participation formats

Successfully completed engineering studies (e.g. civil engineering, infrastructure management, civil management/construction or comparable) Multiannual professional experience in planning and managing public infrastructure or transport projects, ideally in a municipal environment or engineering office Very good knowledge of HOAI (especially performance phases 3–5) as well as safe transition with BauGB, HOAI, VOB; further knowledge in planning and contract law are advantageous Detectable leadership experience, ideally in the direction of project teams or a technical unit, with cooperative and motivating leadership style Impressed analytical and conceptual skills, high quality and responsibility orientation, and safe occurrence towards politics, administration and publicity Very good knowledge of German in word and writing; English knowledge and experience in dealing with different stakeholders are advantageous
